- Hackathon Gaïa – Strategizing and ethical challenges
Let’s take the example of the hackathon Gaïa Strategizing and ethical challenges, which takes place twice a year, the last edition of which took place on November 25 and 26, 2024 around the problem presented by Caroline Croixmarie, Corporate Communication Executive of the company Olga.
Objectives of the hackathon
The launch of the Hackathon took place at the Nantes Edit Amphitheatre of Atlantic Campus with a presentation of the following objectives:
- Implementing/Advancing Your Strategy Skills
- Make strategic proposals related to Gaia (create and share value for a more responsible world)
- discover a new field.
- Working collaboratively on a real and current case
Problematic
Then, the students were challenged with a crucial question:
How can Olga strengthen its competitive advantage in a context of major changes in the European plant-based market?
To guide students in their reflections, each facilitator asked them to prepare deliverables.
First deliverable
Objectives: Analyse changes in the external environment and its potential impact on Olga
- In a context of market changes, what should be the strategic consequences for producers of vegetal alternatives in 2030?
- Describe the strategy of Olga; what is the nature of its competitive advantage and its sustainability (durability/CSR) in the context of market changes?
Second deliverable
Objective: Draw-up recommendations to Olga to reinforce its competitive advantage in a Gaïa environment
- What are your Business Strategy recommendations (e.g. Business Model, Value Chain, Resources/Competencies) to OLGA aligned with its growth objectives and industry trends?
- Do you have other recommendations to OLGA in terms of Corporate Strategy ? (e.g. Specialisation/Diversification ? Internal development /Alliances/Acquisitions, Domestic market/internationalisation ?)
Class vote:
In the early afternoon of day 2, participants took time to finalize their materials and prepare their pitches.
An exhibition gallery was created to allow all students and facilitator to explore the work and to put stickers on it to show their appreciation/ encouragement of the idea.
Then, each room voted for the best presentation that will be carried by its group during the final vote at the Nantes Edit. Each student had a quota of 100 points to allocate on the projects in their class.
- Wooclap room 137 – Group 1: Cathy MASSON
- Wooclap room 139 – Group 2: Valérie CLAUDE-GAUDILLAT
- Wooclap room 145 – Group 3: Sonia GEAY
